The Kor are a small indigenous ethnic group found in Houaphanh Province of northeastern Laos. They are part of the diverse ethnic mosaic of the Lao highlands and have maintained their distinct identity through generations despite isolation and limited outside contact. The Kor speak the Puoc language.
Most Kor live in rural villages where farming, livestock raising, hunting, and gathering support daily life. Family and community relationships are central, with elders highly respected. Traditional festivals often accompany planting and harvest seasons. Rice is the staple food, supplemented by vegetables, wild plants, and locally raised animals.
The Kor primarily follow traditional ethnic religions centered on ancestral spirits and local spiritual powers. Rituals are performed to seek protection, health, and prosperity. Gospel witness among the Kor remains very limited.
Greater access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities would improve quality of life. Scripture, Christian resources, and faithful gospel witness in forms they can understand would help them encounter Christ and grow in discipleship.
Pray that the Kor will experience improved health, education, and sustainable livelihoods.
Pray for open hearts to the gospel.
Pray for believers to be raised up who will share Christ and establish thriving local churches.
Pray for the hearts of pioneer workers to be stirred to reach these people with the eternal gospel, make disciples, and plant churches.
Pray for the ongoing translation work and wide distribution of the Scriptures, discipleship material, and outreach resources in the Puoc language.
Scripture Prayers for the Kor in Laos.
